The Penang Botanic Gardens is an institution of learning, study and research live specimens both in-situ and via links with other establishments. The Gardens is a museum of various flora and fauna for studying research purpose and at the same time it assists institution of higher learning in botanical specimens.

Yearly, groups of students, personnel from government agencies and the private sector come to the Gardens to acquire wealth of information and knowledge on aspects of botany and horticulture.
The short-term courses are provided, these comprising practical training on aspects of botany and horticulture. Participants are given basic practical courses related to plant identification plant propagation, landscape and herbarium techniques.

In this respect, the Penang Botanic Gardens has always adopted and echoed the Malaysian Government’s effort in appreciating the environment and preserving our biodiversity from extinction so that future generations will value and appreciate it.

In this connection, the Botanic Gardens role in complementing the Governments effort and disseminating this important message to the masses, especially students, interested groups and tourists, is timely and significance.

The Guided Educational Tour Programs reflects the government commitment of the Botanic Gardens.
